What are some good healthy fruit smoothie recipes?

http://www.smoothieweb.com/What are some good healthy fruit smoothie recipes?
First, chopped fruit (one type of fruit or several) is the smoothie's fruit base. Great fruits to use are bananas, berries (including strawberries and blackberries), pineapples, mangos, and/or kiwi.

# Second, add an ingredient to the smoothie as a thickener. Good choices include low-fat yogurt, low-fat frozen yogurt, a can of frozen juice concentrate, frozen fruit, or a cup of ice. How much of these ingredients you will use depends on how thick you want your smoothie to be.

# Third, you will need a liquid so everything will blend smoothly. You can add skim milk, soy milk, fruit juice or even water (some smoothie makers use flavored water). Start with 1/4 cup and then add more if needed.

# An extra option to enhance flavor is to add a sweetner, cinnamon or vanilla extract.

# A good rule of thumb for the ingredient measurements is to make your smoothie with 1 part fruit, 1 part liquid, and 2 parts thick base. For example: for 1 smoothie (a little over 1 cup), you would use 1/4 cup fruit, 1/4 cup liquid, and 1/2 cup thickener. But these measurements are not set in stone. The great thing about smoothies is you can experiment to get exactly what you want!

Directions

Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Serve immediately or refrigerate. You may want to serve in a chilled glass if serving immediately.

Tips

A lot of people choose to add nutritional supplements to their smoothies, such as wheat germ, Vitamin C powder or ground flaxseed. Also, if you want extra protein, add soy protein isolate or soy protein concentrate.

This one is really good. I've made it several times and it's good for you except for the whipping cream.

Pink Smoothie Deluxe

Makes 4 servings

2 cups frozen banana slices

1 1/2 cups frozen unsweetened strawberries (I use both sweetened and unsweetened. Depends what is on sale.)

1 cup Ruby Red grapefruit juice (I use Florida's Natural)

1 cup OJ

Combine all in blender. Puree until very smooth. Garnish with strawberry or orange twist.

I make my own whipped cream to top. You can do that by using a mixer and whipping heavy whipping cream and add 1-2 TB of sugar. Taste before you add that 2 TB of sugar. If it needs to sweetened up more add a little more sugar. Also, it whips better if you throw the attachments, bowl and cream in the freezer for about 10 minutes.

Good luck
Once my bananas are overly ripe, I peel them, break them into pieces and put the ripe bananas in small food storage bags to freeze for smoothies. I use the frozen bananas instead of ice to give the smoothie a thicker, more ice-cream like texture.

I start with the basic recipe and go from there:

Basic Frozen Banana Orange Smoothie Recipe:

Makes a thick smoothie

2 frozen bananas, broken into pieces

1 cup milk (we prefer low fat) or vanilla soy milk

1 cup orange juice

Add all ingredients into blender and blend until smooth.

Makes 2 servings.

Mango, Banana, Orange Smoothie

Add 1 cup frozen (no sugar added) mango to basic recipe

If consistency is too thick, add 1/2 cup cold water

Raspberry Orange Smoothie

Add 1 cup frozen (no sugar added) raspberries to basic recipe

If consistency is too thick, add 1/2 cup cold water

Strawberry Orange Smoothie

Add 1 cup frozen (no sugar added) strawberries to basic recipe

If consistency is too thick, add 1/2 cup cold water

If you don't have any frozen bananas, try using yogurt to thicken the smoothie:

Basic Banana Orange Smoothie Recipe:

2 bananas

1 cup low fat yogurt

1 cup orange juice

4 ice cubes

Add all ingredients into blender and blend until smooth. Add 1 cup frozen fruit as directed above for different flavors.

Makes 2 servings.

Hope this helps!

If you notice most smoothie recipes include plain yogurt and whatever fruit you want. My favorite is strawberries and bananas. Just mix it up and see what fruits you like together. =)
i love to add a small splash of milk to make it creamier, frozen strawberrys, frozen blueberrys, vanila yogurt, honey, and orange juice, and a banana. My other favorite smoothie is ice, orange juice, and two bananas, its surprisingly very good

If using fresh fruit...use ice cubes for thickner
This one will give you ratings and reviews from people who have tried them.
